Burton Leonard 3rd XI v Galphay and Winksley

Burton Leonard 3rd XI got back to winning ways yesterday with a comfortable 58 run victory over Galphay and Winksley.
A huge groan could be heard coming from the visitors changing room after the news that they would be fielding first in the thirty degree heat whilst Burton batted first. Stuart Barker (72) and a quick fire 51 from Clive Carass, both of whom conserved energy by compiling scores consisting mainly of boundaries. The Burton innings closed on 204-6, with Wilf Wigglesworth ensuring a batting point through his 'red inker'.
After tea, Wilf began to demonstrate perfect seam up bowling, however it was young David Burrows who struck first to remove the dangerous Pickersgill. Wickets began to fall quickly although the young opening batsmen, R Taylor defied the Burton bowlers for 45 overs, which was a tremendous achievement for a junior, batting in a helmet in the stifling heat and finished 45*. Skipper Clive Carass cleaned up the middle order and finished with figures of 5-35 as the innings closed well short on 146-8.
Below are some photos of the game and the batting and bowling exploits of 69 year old Wilf Wigglesworth.
