Burton Leonard v Blubberhouses

A superb 179 off only 139 balls by Blubberhouses prolific opening batsman Bill Davies ensured Burton Leonard 1st XI suffered their third defeat of the season losing by 139 runs after Blubberhouses posted 295-5 off their 45 overs. Dan Thirkell was the pick of the Burton bowlers with 2-52 with 18 year old Johnny Duffy also picked up two wickets.

The Burton reply got off to the worst possible start with Dan Thirkell being dismissed in the first over, and none of the top order managing to post a decent score on a good wicket. Instead it was left to Neil ‘Grizzly’ Carass to top score with 43 batting at number nine and sharing a 45 run partnership with Rob Murray to take the score to 150. However the innings closed soon after with Burton all out for 156 and no points to take away from the match. Hopefully next week’s match against Knaresborough Forest will allow them to get back to winning ways.
