Burton Leonard Womens Institute

Burton Leonard WI was formed in 1925 and has flourished in the village for many years since. We are a small welcoming group who come together to share interests, develop new skills and make new friends. At present we have 31 members but we are always anxious to welcome more to our relaxed informal group. We meet on the third Monday of each month at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall. Our aim is to put together an interesting and wide ranging programme with a variety of speakers to enlighten and stimulate us.
On the last Monday in the month we invite villagers, friends and family to accompany us for a ramble in the beautiful surrounding countryside, enjoying one of the many scenic walks in close proximity to the village. This has proved a very popular pastime especially during the summer months.
We have an annual dinner and try to arrange several outings during the year. Our most recent trip was to Highgrove the home of HRH Prince Charles for a tour around the magnificent gardens. We are always open to suggestions for the following year’s programme.
Members share duties in greeting guest speakers and giving the vote of thanks and the all important tea hostesses who provide biscuits and a welcome cup of tea/coffee after the meeting. It is hoped that all members will serve time on the Committee sharing the responsibility for running the branch.
Why not give us a try and come along to Burton Leonard WI to find friendship and fun. Contact one of the members below if you feel you would like more information or encouragement.
