Burton Leonard 2nds recorded their third win of the season with a resounding 100 runs victory against Pateley Bridge. After a miserable week, the ground at Bewerley Park was in magnificent condition and an excellent albeit soft pitch had been prepared.

Burton lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Burton opener, James Robinson (pictured above) got the innings going in his usual fashion by blasting the ball out of the park twice before being caught behind for a quick fire 20. Mike Stansfield (26) at the other end played the anchor role of the innings for the next twenty overs and with the help of Leigh Parsons who top scored with 65 took the score to 107-2 of 27 overs.

This allowed the middle order to accelerate the score with useful knocks from Joe Wilson (31), Kris Burtwistle (31) and a rapid fire 43* off 21 balls from Ben Drummond which allowed Burton to post a challenging 244-5 at the half way stage.

Gareth Foxton, the Pateley Bridge danger man started the innings with a six but was well caught at mid off by Mike Stansfield off the impressive bowling of Johnny Duffy. There were a couple of other useful contributions but the innings stalled in the middle and although Pateley should have got a batting point, this did not transpire thanks to some tight slow bowling from Trevor Kettlewell (2-27), Bryan Slack (0-17) and James Robinson (2-14). The innings closed on 144-7 and Burton took five crucial points from the game and will be pleased with a good all round display which gives them a valuable seven point cushion above the bottom two teams in division four.
