Staveley v Burton Leonard

Having won the previous week against Alne 2nds, Burton Leonard 2nd XI crashed to a 75 run defeat against Staveley and in the process failed to pick up a valuable batting point.

Johnny Duffy and Iain Barker were the pick of the Burton bowlers as Staveley posted a useful 201-7. Burton's reply got off to a terrible start and the top order failed to contribute as Staveley's opening bowler, Tom Barker ripped through them and finished with 5-14.

Only some clean hitting from Iain Barker (43) pictured above and some solid batting from Andy Parker (21) prolonged the innings and gave Burton a chance of reaching the 134 needed for a batting point. Sadly it was not to be and the innings closed in the 43rd over when the score was 129.

The next two fixtures against Thornton-le-Moor and Pateley Bridge will be crucial if Burton are to avoid the drop.
